Laborer - operates under the supervision of the lead person loading aggregate rail cars. This may include shoveling various types of aggregates, bending, lifting, cleaning cars, etc., other duties as requested. This is physically strenuous work; must be able to lift 75 lbs. The job may take place in various locations in Minnesota and North Dakota with out of town work required (pay per diem for out of town work). Work is primarily outdoors, lasting from April through the middle of December which is seasonal, full-time, some weekends. Work hours are generally 10-12 hour days, but may exceed 70 hours.
The Laborer must wear hearing protection and steel toe boots.
1. Prepare the pit and work area.
2. Load cars.
3. Complete routine maintenance.
4. Complete shop work.
5. Install rail ties.
Must have current valid driver's license and be able to pass federally mandated drug testing program.
